With his death on Monday April 21,2025, we find ourselves reflecting on his compassionate leadership, unwavering advocacy for the marginalized, and the bold reforms he championed within the Vatican.
Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on December 17, 1936, he rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most cherished and influential popes in modern history.
A Legacy of Compassion and Reform
Pope Francis’s papacy was characterized by his deep commitment to social justice, a heartfelt concern for our planet, and a vision for a more inclusive Church. Beginning in 2013, after the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, he immediately embraced the idea of a “Church for the poor.” His genuine approach and desire for a more compassionate, accessible Church resonated with both the faithful and those observing from the outside.
May his soul rest in peace, and may his vision for a better world continue to guide the Church and humanity at large. RIP Pope Francis
